What we do......

Counselling Service

GY operates a counselling service, with five part-time therapists providing a range of therapeutic approaches to offer emotional support to young people aged 11+ and their parents.

We offer individual appointments, by appointment, throughout the week.

Referrals are taken from GY staff or local agencies, GPs and schools or clients can self-refer.

GY counselling service provides non-time limited therapy to young people aged 11+ and parents.

Statistics show that young people who have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) tend to exhibit more risk-taking behaviours, have chaotic lifestyles, or fail to engage in education. This can lead to issues around substance use and poor educational/employment outcomes which, in turn, have a profound effect on their confidence, anxiety levels and subsequently their mental health.
