EXPERIENCE /QUALIFICATIONS: No qualifications are required although experience of detached youth work delivery would be expected.

Granton Youth is looking for a youth worker with experience of delivering detached youth work. As part of a small team to deliver 3-5 sessions of detached youth work weekly in North Edinburgh. Engagements focus on harm reduction around alcohol, substance use and risk-taking behaviour.

PURPOSE OF JOB: To work with young people aged 11+ in a variety of settings – in the street, or youth work premises – developing and implementing a programme, reflecting GY priorities.

To work as part of a staff team in the delivery of appropriate programmes for young people, e.g., sports, arts & crafts, issue-based, personal and skills development etc. You will support and motivate young people to participate in the provision – including planning, development, decision-making processes and evaluation. You will work as part of a team providing a safe, secure and stimulating environment for young people.

SALARY £16,380-£18,200 Pro rata (8-12hrs per week)

EXPERIENCE /QUALIFIACATIONS: prospective candidates should have a minimum of two year’s experience of working in the voluntary sector, with youth work experience.

PURPOSE OF JOB: This post is for a youthworker for Granton Youth’s GoLone Project for lone parents. The post holder will enable lone parents to develop and participate in peer mentoring and support programmes. A 3 x weekly programme addressing issues, identified by participants, to support and improve their life, social, emotional, practical and family skills; and in doing so enabling their children to have the best start in life. The aim of this project is enable and facilitate lone parents to engage more in their community, increase their social network and reduce isolation. The postholder will support the team leader in developing and implementing programmes of activities, evaluations, imaginative and innovative responses to challenges being faced by the young lone parents. They will be help to develop innovative methods of engaging marginalised and isolated young lone parents.

The aim is that by the end of the funding period lone parents can run and organise the group themselves, creating a self-sustaining project with minimum input from staff.

Granton Youth Centre are looking for highly motivated and creative Detached Youth Workers, on a sessional basis, to join the North Edinburgh Streetwork Team.

This is a challenging but rewarding post, working throughout North Edinburgh.

The organisation is keen to recruit the right person to join this experienced and dynamic staff team. Experience of engaging with young people in a community setting is essential, street-work/detached youth work experience would be an advantage and a full driving license is desirable.
