Young people and families came out in force to support only the 2nd ever North By North West (NXNW) at Leith Depot on Sunday nigh, with the venue sold out two weeks in advance of the show! This is our collaborative live showcase night for young artists, in partnership with the top chums in Tinderbox Collective.
As always, the night started with open mic slots with Robert Graham, Devilish Jay, and audience member Joy being particular hightlights! (Robert Graham)
Broughton High School student, Arlo Wilson then treated us to their singer/song-writing talents – they will be releasing music in the New Year and showcased two original songs as well as covers of CMATs “I wanna be a cowboy” and The Cranberries classic “Linger”.
Kieran Crosbie and his band took the stage, with session drummer Eric (who is only 13!) and Bassist Lewis Horton and treated us to an all originals set, reminiscent of The Kooks, Jack Penate, and other mid 00’s indie-pop sensations. A bright future surely awaits them so remember the name! Him having the audience waltzing together was a particular highlight!

Our 2nd Headliners were the wonderful Drenched in Dreams, who started out as a cover band in May and were making their live debut as an originals band. Influences are worn firmly on the sleeve in the form of Florence and the Machine, Paramore, and Eisley – with the ethereal vocals of Alba Cummings and Abigail Kerner contrasting wonderfully with the six piece bands Alt-Rock stylings. You can check out a demo of their upcoming single here Mismatched (Demo) | Drenched in Dreams | Granton Youth Mixtape Club (bandcamp.com) ahead of them taking on the world in 2024!

We’d like to thank Leith Depot for the free use of their venue, as well as their wonderful staff for welcoming us in. Tinderbox’s Liam, Eve, and Jed for all their help and expertise in executing the night, and everyone who came down!
